	The Avon Valley Practice is a rural part dispensing practice of three GP's situated, as its name suggests, in the Avon valley to the north of Salisbury.
Peter Jenkins, the Senior (ie oldest!) Partner, has been a Trainer since 1980 and Fiona Ross Russell, who has been a partner since 1987, is a newly approved Trainer. Ian Green is the new boy and joined the partnership in February 1999. He is sufficiently close to his own training to remember clearly what being a Registrar is all about! The Partners are committed to the idea of the Practice as a training practice, and all of them will play a part in the educational programme for the Registrar's year.

The practice itself is fully computerised using the EMIS system, to the point of being almost paperless in terms of patient record keeping. There are three surgery sites, Upavon (left), Netheravon, and Durrington (below right) and these are linked by landlines so that each site has computer access to the same information. The Partners work at all three sites during the course of the week, and it is expected that the Registrar would do likewise - always working alongside one of the partners.

The Avon Valley Practice has a full complement of employed staff: each surgery has a Practice Nurse and two part time receptionist/dispensers. The day-to-day administration of the Practice is undertaken by two Office Staff and the Practice Manager - Hilary Jenkins -- based at Upavon Surgery.
