The Fordingbridge Doctors Surgery

Fordingbridge is a pleasant small town in Hampshire, 11 miles south of Salisbury and in the north west corner of the New Forest. Southampton is 20 miles to the south-east, and Bournemouth is 20 miles south-west.

We are the only practice in the town and we have a list of 12,400 patients, half in the town, half in the surrounding villages.

Our surgery is a large, airy handsome building in the grounds of the cottage hospital, close to the centre of town. It was converted from a redundant ward block in 1992/93 and extended further in 2002. In 2005 two new Registrars' rooms were built onto the Surgery, offering fantastic facilities in which to spend your GP Registrar year.

There are seven Partners in the Practice, of whom three are trainers.

We have a long history of GP training going back to 1981 and three of the present Partners are ex-Registrars of the Practice. We also have two Partners who are very experienced past Trainers - Dr Hywel Morris and Dr Eamon Staunton.

Our out-of-hours service is provided by PCT. As a consequence we are fairly relaxed about where our registrars live.

We are a happy Practice family and get together every day for coffee. Please feel free to come along and meet us all. We all enjoy family medicine and are enthusiastic about training. We can cater for two GP Registrars simultaneously, and hope this adds to the enjoyment of the training year. You can find more details about us on our web site.
