The Nadder Valley

Fovant is a small village in the Nadder Valley, approximately 10 miles to the west of Salisbury. It is a mainly farming, entirely rural community.

Designated an "area of outstanding natural beauty", the Nadder Valley embraces a number of small villages of mostly limestone houses under thatched roofs, in rolling downland. The villages are interspersed by little chalk streams that form the Nadder river system.

The nearest city is Salisbury, which supports a thriving market, a busy district general hospital, and a cathedral that has one of the tallest spires in Europe. The cultural centre of Bath is less than an hour away by road, as are the cities of Southampton, Bournemouth, and the resorts of the south coast. There are train or motorway links to London in under two hours.

This is a quiet and beautiful practice area, yet within convenient distance of many urban, recreational and cultural centres. On our doorstep there are numerous opportunities for country pursuits such as walking, riding, fishing etc; the south coast offers all the usual sea sports amenities, and the theatres, shopping centres and concert arenas of Bath and Salisbury offer numerous attractions. Motor sport is available at the circuits of Thruxton and Castle Coombe, there is horse racing at Salisbury, Wincanton, Bath and Cheltenham, and historic houses such as Longleat, Wilton House, Broadlands, Strathfield Spay, and historic sites such as the stone circles of Avebury and Stonehenge are all well within an hour's drive.

Accommodation is not difficult to find; there are many cottages to rent from £400 upwards per month.
